We see the light it reflects and thereby gain an impression of form and material. In the same way we hear the sounds it reflects and they, too, give us an impression of form and material\u201d

Hear Tallinn with new ears! Buildings and architecture are usually described in visual terms. But it is often our sense of hearing which assists us in experiencing and navigating through the spaces of urban cities.
\nThere is no sound without space and no space without a sound. In every day life we are surrounded by the sounds of diverse nature and various origins. Language, sounds of nature and civilisation \u2013 sound as a carrier of information or as a factor of disturbance permanently encircles our consciousness.
\nTuned City Tallinn will undertake an acoustic exploration of Tallinn. The goal will be to identify and explore the sonic landmarks of the city which define its identity, shape its communication and transform the perceptions of its visitors and inhabitants. A fascinating cross-section of international artists, performers, scientists and thinkers will be brought together to present their ideas about sound and space. In addition, the public will be invited to participate directly through a series of workshops and sound walks and experience diverse site-specific installations, performances and demonstrations.
\nA pre-event was taking place during the month of May 2010<\/a>, introducing our project with a series of workshops, performances and lectures.
\nTuned City Tallinn builds on ideas developed during the first ever event of its kind, held in Berlin during the summer of 2008.<\/p>\n

Tuned City is part of the official program of the European Cultural Capital Tallinn 2011<\/a> and is co-produced with MoKs<\/a> – center for art and social practice and is supported by the Tallinn 2011 Foundation, Estonian Cultural Endowment, Hasartm\u00e4ngumaksu N\u00f5ukogu, Eesti Vabariigi Kultuuriministeerium and Goethe-Institut Tallinn. In cooperation with The Estonian Academy of Arts, Kunshogskoleutdanninger i Norden KUNO and The Estonian Maritime Museeum.<\/p>\n

Kuula Tallinna uute k\u00f5rvadega! Tavaliselt kirjeldatakse ehitisi ja arhitektuuri visuaalsete m\u00e4rks\u00f5nadega. Aga tihti on just meie kuulmismeel see, mis aitab meid (linna)ruumi kogemisel ja selles liikumisel. Ei ole heli ilma ruumita ega ruumi ilma helita. Igap\u00e4evaelus \u00fcmbritsevad meid eri loomu ja p\u00e4ritoluga helid, mis info kandja v\u00f5i m\u00fcrafaktorina ringlevad pidevalt meie teadvuses.
\n2011. aasta suvel, mil Tallinn on Euroopa kultuuripealinn, v\u00f5tab Tuned City ette Tallinna akustilise avastamise. Eesm\u00e4rk on uurida ja identifitseerida linnaruumi helimaastiku m\u00e4rke; neid, mis defineerivad linna identiteeti, vormivad kommunikatsioone ja kujundavad elanike ja k\u00fclastajate meeli. Selleks tuleb Tallinna kokku suur hulk rahvusvahelisi kunstnikke, esinejaid, teadlasi ja m\u00f5tlejaid, et esitleda oma ideesid heli ja ruumi kohta. Lisaks kaasatakse avalikkust, pakkudes v\u00f5imalusi l\u00fc\u00fca kaasa mitmes t\u00f6\u00f6toas ja helijalutusk\u00e4ikudel ning kogeda kohaspetsiifilisi installatsioone, performance<\/em>\u2019e ja esitlusi.<\/p>\n

Tuned City Tallinn on v\u00f5rsunud ideedest, mida arendati esimesel Tuned City s\u00fcndmusel Berliinis 2008. aasta suvel. Tuned City kuulub Euroopa kultuuripealinn Tallinn 2011<\/a> programmi ja on valminud koost\u00f6\u00f6s Mooste Kunsti ja Sotsiaalpraktika Keskusega (MoKS<\/a>). Tallinn 2011 esitletava “Tuned City Tallinna” toetajad on ka Eesti Kultuurkapital, hasartm\u00e4ngumaksu n\u00f5ukogu, kultuuriministeerium ja Goethe Instituut, Briti N\u00f5ukogu, EACEA (Kultuuriprogramm), Hollandi kuningriigi suursaatkond, Taani saatkond, Norra saatkond, Nordecon. Projekt valmib koost\u00f6\u00f6s Eesti Kunstiakadeemia, Kunshogskoleutdanninger i Norden KUNO, von Krahli, Eesti Meremuuseumi ja Uue Maailma Seltsiga.<\/p>\n
